14 institutions in the black list of the Department of Health

The Department of Health has blacklisted 14 contractors for corruption, fraud and conspiracy. This information has been known from the relevant sources on Thursday.

The ACC secretary sent a letter to the cabinet secretary on December 12, 2019 to blacklist 14 contractors after investigating allegations of irregularities and corruption in the procurement of MSRs, heavy machines and equipment of medical colleges, hospitals and institutions under the control of the health department.

Then, on the 7th of this month, he sent a letter to the Procurement and Procurement Branch of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health, the Director General of the Health Department and the Director of the Central Pharmacy to take action as per the recommendation of the ACC.

Besides, there are 9 cases against 14 contractors for embezzling Tk 131 crore through corruption. The ACC filed these cases in 2017 and 19.
